Musik Violin School
Musik Violin School, Our Little Workshop, is a string program (violin) established since 2002. Its founder, Professor Yaricel Muñiz, a member of the American Suzuki Association, will use the Suzuki method to educate the student in music and violin. The Suzuki methodology had its beginnings in the mid-1960s, when Dr. Shinichi Suzuki (1898-1998), inspired by the way students learn their language, revolutionized the world by proposing a new way of teaching music.
Suzuki Philosophy
Master Suzuki was a famous Japanese violin teacher who believed that all children had musical talents and could be developed at an early age. Suzuki taught his philosophy to thousands of students and teachers throughout his life. Contrary to traditional thinking, Suzuki believed that talent had more to do with the environment in which the child developed than with genetics. His conclusion was based on that if every child has the potential and ability to learn, then all students have the potential to achieve great talent and ability. Master Suzuki said that if we strive we can become superior human beings and acquire talent and ability.
Master Suzuki was amazed to see how a child could learn his language no matter how difficult it was, simply by imitating and listening to his parents speak it and by the constant repetition. He further observed that all children learn their language at their own pace and that children who were rewarded and encouraged for their effort learned more quickly. This allowed the children to build a vast vocabulary with very little effort. Based on these observations, Suzuki began to see incredible potential for learning in children, and by adapting the principles of language learning, Suzuki developed a method entitled “Gifted Education”. He believed that listening to and playing good music would help students achieve their aspirations in life which are beauty of spirit, love and peace. Even in 1961 a presentation by a group of 400 Suzuki students inspired the famous Cellist Pablo Cassals to say: “Maybe music will be the one that will save the world”.
With that in mind, our workshop not only prepares students to develop musical talent but also to be good citizens and to enjoy the most uplifting qualities such as integrity, honesty, and kindness.
METHODOLOGY
In the workshop, violin learning skills not only depend on the teacher, but also includes parents and the effort of individual student practice. In order to achieve the maximum potential of the student, we must commit ourselves to: attending a weekly individual class, listening to Suzuki records daily, these are also found via YouTube, positively rewarding each skill that the child and student learns, especially practicing constantly.
In this program the student will be taught the basic knowledge to play the violin, as well as the Suzuki method and within the philosophy learning to explain part of the theory and music theory. At Musik Violin School we are committed to promoting successful musical careers, but even more the workshop’s commitment is that students respect their instrument and love their teaching, that they understand that music education is enriching and necessary for their development and motivation in life.
